Blog 283: Officials and Team Managers
Steve Tremain, as Volunteer Coordinator, ensures that the correct Officials attend the galas where we have teams competing. Wherever possible these will be qualified Officials. Courses to qualify as a Official are now ongoing. If you are interested in getting qualified, we will be organising a Club Timekeepers' course before the end of the year. This involves just an hour of theory and a practical exercise; just let Steve or me know.
Rachel Groves is responsible for appointing the Team Managers. Again, where possible these will
have attended the Team Managers course. The Team Managers are responsible for the swimmers on the bus and collecting the fares, if transport is provided. They oversee the swimmers on poolside and assist the Coach as required. Their duties do not finish until the swimmers are either safely returned to West Park or collected by Parents at the end of the gala.
If you are interested in attending a Team Mangers' course, please make Rachel aware.

Blog 282: Time Trials Saturday October 18th
The Time Trials this Saturday are an opportunity to achieve or update your 200m times in preparation for the Chesterfield Open and next year's County events in March. Remember 9,10, 11 and (12 year old boys), your events at these 2 events are
50m and 200m. If you will be 9 by next March you too, should try and get to West Park on Saturday for the 6 o'clock warm-up.
Please be advised by your Coaches and take advantage of these Time Trials. If you need a time in any other events for entering the Chesterfield Open, please let Greg Cherry or myself know before Saturday, so that we can fit it into the programme for the evening.
Parents these events rely on you volunteering to HELP on poolside on the night so please come prepared to do so!

Blog 281: Speedo League Round 1 Results
A Team - Division 1 - Leamington Spa
Boldmere 250
Stourbridge 227
Leamington 178
Long Eaton 147
Shrewsbury 133
Braunstone 110
To achieve 4th place was an excellent result against some very tough teams. Race wins were achieved by Livvi Sefton in the Open Ladies 100m Fly, Kevin Wallbank in the Boys 13/u 100m Fly and Oliver Davidson in the Boys 11/u 50m Breaststroke. There was a great team spirit throughout, especially in the relays. Congratulations also go out to Liz Simpson and Joshua Hawthorn, who made the trip for just one relay swim each. Your contribution was just as important as those swimmers who had 5+ events each.
B Team - Division 3 - Ilkeston
Kingsbury 238
Falcoln 193
Matlock 187
Leic Nept 169
Hinkley 136
Long Eaton 123
A very respectable performance against other clubs' A teams, and with many swimmers racing up an age.
Full results for both the A and B teams will be displayed on the notice board at West Park.
Well done to everyone who took part in both galas. The teamsheet for the next round (8th November 2008) will be appearing on noticeboards soon - please make sure you confirm your availability as soon as possible.
