Blog 316: Speedo League Results

Updated Monday 15th December 2008, 11:30am

A Team, Division 1, Hucknall

City of Gloucester 197
Chesterfield 193
Long Eaton A 190
Haden Hill 188
Northgate 162
Camp Hill Edwardians 112

Despite missing a number of key swimmers through a combination of injuries, illness, work commitments and parties, the club pulled off a result well above what our league position would have predicted. It was a very exciting gala from start to finish, and I am very proud of everyone who took part. I was particularly impressed by the toughness of those swimming multiple events, which was the best I have seen from any Long Eaton team to date.

Well Done to everyone who took part - Lets use this to kick start the next cycle up to the Derbyshire Championships!

B Team, Division 3, Ilkeston

Belper 217
Ilkeston 207
Calverton B 205
Leicester Neptune 169
Hinckley 137
Long Eaton B 108

Congratulations to the B team on a solid performance, despite missing many swimmers through illness, holidays, etc. Special congratulations goes to the the Ladies Open Medley Relay Team, who did extremely well to pull off a win against all the other clubs' A teams, and to Jack Milichip who had to race a total of 300m Fly, but never complained and still gave his best to every race.

Well Done to everyone who took part in both galas. Results will be displayed on the notice board at West Park from Monday.

Blog 315: Chesterfield Open Meet and Forthcoming Competitions

I was particularly impressed by the way you continued to perform well as a group all the way to the end of Sunday's session, despite having entered alot of races and feeling tired. This toughness is an essential attribute in the drive to achieve podium success at Derbyshire and Midland level.

We have a number of competitions coming up. The first of these is the final round of Speedo League this weekend. I want to see more tough swimming at this meet!

We then have the 400, 800 and 1500m club championships in just under 2 weeks time. These events are open to all squad swimmers. All swimmers in Elite Potential Squad are expected to enter the 400 Free and 400 IM as a minimum.

The next focus meet is the Long Eaton Open Meet on Sunday 1st February 2009. All Long Eaton swimmers aged 9 and over on this date are expected to enter this meet, and training for most squads will be cancelled on this date. The represents an important part of your preparation for the Derbyshire Championships, and swimmers should enter all events. Please submit your entries to Angela Hidle as soon as possible.

Next cycle we will aim to step up another level - this season we should be aiming to significantly increase the number of swimmers at both Derbyshires and Midlands. Ask yourself - are you doing enough to meet this goal?
