Blog 2994: Pre/Post Pool

Saw this great tweet today

https://twitter.com/CSCSwimcoach/status/781215845183811584

For those without twitter its a group of swimmers doing a circuit based pre pool session with the message "warm up to swim, dont swim to warm up"

Training starts with pre pool work and finishes with recovery post pool work, not when the pool session starts and finishes.

Blog 2993: National Training Groups

Below are the training groups for national squad from next week. If your name is not on the list that is because I havent seen your goal sheet or discussed your focus events with you. Unless your goal sheet is handed in and I can put you into a group based on your focus events you will go into the IM group both nights. The groups have been selected to get the best out of you for your chosen events. Fridays and Sundays will be normal lanes but choice strokes in that lane as these sessions will production, tolerance, threshold and race pace based. I will move swimmers between groups depending on what each individual needs as well i.e. Liz will alternate Free and Fly on Wednesdays as she doesnt come Tuesday.

Blog 2992: Camp 2017

The Camp for 2017 will take place during the Easter holiday for 7-10 days depending on flights etc. There are a few venues we are looking at around the Mediterranean for now before finalising it, but the cost looks to be in the region of £900-£1200 with the venues including food and soft drinks at meal times. Please email me if you are interested in going on this camp. The camp is available to any club member over the age of 12 and who trains mornings and evenings. As you will be doing 2 pool and 1 land session a day it is important that you are used to at least 2 training sessions a day prior to going on camp.

Blog 2982: Belper Marlins

Despite getting our entries to Belper 2 weeks prior to their closing date we have been informed that our entries were received after the gala filled up. We have looked all over the country not just in this region to find a replacement meet but even ones as far away as Norwich are full. This is very disappointing for all concerned. To ensure that entries for first come first served level 3 meets are in in time, we are going to have to lengthen the time between getting entries in and the closing date for the gala. Chesterfield have just released their Level 3 meet 26th November which we will be entering. Its 50's and 100's in all strokes so please get your entries in as soon as possible. In the mean time the club are once are again holding time trials and details will be released shortly.

Blog 2979: New Swimming Fees

Following a reconciliation of the fees that have been received so far this month, it is apparent that a large number of you have not updated your standing orders to the new amounts, or indeed paid at all.

Please ensure that your standing order form is sent to your bank as soon as possible, as the monthly fees are the club's main source of income and failure to receive the expected amounts impacts on our cash flow.

If you have underpaid for September then the shortfall can be paid by cheque to the club post box at West Park or by transfer to the same bank account details as your standing order. Please ensure that your reference is quoted on any payments.

If you have any queries about your monthly payment amount please contact treasurer.lesc@hotmail.co.uk

Blog 2977: County and Midland Squad

Due to the Matlock gala on Saturday there is no training for Midland squad, Nor is there any on Sunday as per Blog 2969.

County Squad and JD2 are still on Saturday as per normal.

As per club instructions all sessions are cancelled for galas for the appropriate squad. This has been in place for at least 6 years now and will remain the clubs practice. If you are not making 100% of your available training then use one of the weekly session you do not usually attend to make up the missed session, if you are making 100% of sessions then you should be entering the galas to measure your progress and get the rewards for all your hard work.

Blog 2973: Harvey Hadden

Hi All

we have heard through the staff at Harvey Hadden that the council have agreed to let travellers use the showers there.
There were reports on Thursday evening of people  rifling through lockers whilst the children were swimming.
Luckily they were caught and hopefully  nothing was taken.

We would like to advise swimmers and coaches who use Harvey Hadden to lock their lockers at all times or take their bags onto pool side, even if the you think that they have nothing of value in your bags.

Blog 2960: Restructure

Hi All

I would just like to remind everyone that the club has been restructured and that traditional squad moves have been replaced by this. We have brought an additional squad in at the bottom end and with some small adjustments managed to either increase or maintain the hours throughout the structure.

This has been a long process and every swimmer has been looked at individually and placed where the lead coach for that squad feels would be the best fit for each individual swimmers needs.

No one has been demoted, this is impossible as its a new structure.

We are still looking to get more pool time to continue this expansion.

Each squad coach will hold a meeting with their squads to explain the expectations for each squad and how the swimmers can progress through the most successful squad structure around.

We are expanding all the time and this season is going to be the clubs best ever.

Blog 2953: A Gentle Reminder

Just a gentle reminder to all parents and swimmers.

I am on my break.

Those of you that are emailing, texting or face book messaging me need to remember the correct procedure for contact.

1 Contact your squad rep.
2 Next point of contact is the lead coach for your squad.
3 Then it is either myself or the committee.

I will be back on Monday and if any queries need to be answered by me having gone through the above procedure I will answer them then. As always only matters referring to your individual swimmer will be answered, no discussion will take place regarding other swimmers.
