Blog 2844: Leicester League Round Up
Congratulations to the swimmers who represented the club in the Leicester league competition this winter. We contested all three rounds exceptionally well, coming second in both rounds one and two, and then following up with a sixth placed finish in the division final, narrowly missing the promotion places. We use the leicester league competition as a base to further develop the all round competitiveness of the club by mixing experienced swimmers with lesser experienced swimmers and in many cases exposing the younger swimmers to their first league competition. It was pleasing to see how well this mix worked, and the skills and abilities on display. Round Three was much more difficult than the previous two rounds, and it was clear that some of the bigger teams had bought in some heavy hitters missing in the previous rounds, so to see how well you competed shows promise and confidence in the abilities across all of the age groups.
Thankyou to the parents for getting the kids to the galas, particularly during round two where some of you zigzagged between matlock and burton! Many thanks to the officials and team managers for the organisation of the swimmers and timings!

Blog 2843: High Wycombe
Can all the swimmers who expressed an interest please post their entry forms in the post box in West Park for this event by Wednesday 30th March 2016 . Having run some initial costings it looks like it will be around £120 per person for travel and accommodation. A final amount will be available once we have confirmed all the details. Obviously this may go up or down from the initial costing.

Blog 2839: Gala information
Unfortunately there has been a high level of entries already before the closing date for Rykneld gala and our entries are not guaranteed.
"As an alternative to Rykneld we will now enter the Peterborough gala. As this is a slightly higher level it is now open to Prestige to enter. Any swimmer who has entered Rykneld but does not qualify for Peterborough will be entered into the Eckington open meet in May as an alternative . If you do not want to enter either of these meets and had originally entered Rykneld please let us know by Tuesday, or, if siblings would end up at different meets, please let us know if you want them all to enter Eckington instead. If you had not entered either meet previously but wish to enter please do so by Tuesday as well. As always we are trying to select suitable galas for all our swimmers to give everyone the opportunity to represent the club. We do everything we can to ensure we follow the gala programme as prescribed, however sometimes this is not possible no matter what we do as a club and alternative arrangements need to be made."
Thank you

Dear Club Managers & Head Coaches.
We look forward to seeing you all at the RRSC Meet this coming weekend at Aldershot Garrison.
As you are aware, this Meet was over-subscribed and we still have a significant number of swimmers (& Swim Clubs) attending the Meet.
To help with the smooth running of the Meet and the comfort and safety of all swimmers, please could you we ask that you relay the information below to your swimmers (some of this information will also be in your Coaches Packs when you arrive with us):
- swimmers need to SIGN-IN for 400M events and reserve lists. If they do NOT sign-in by the start of the warm-up for that session, they will be withdrawn from the 400M event or removed from the reserve list.
- swimmers who decide NOT to swim in an event, need to inform their Swim Coach (or RRSC computer personnel if there is no coach present for their Club) of their withdrawal before the start of the warm-up for that session.
Club Coaches are asked to submit their withdrawal slips to the computer operators before the start of the relevant warm-ups (this will help to ensure that we do not have empty lanes in events and that reserves can be re-instated)

- please can swimmers NOT bring kit-bags poolside. Having kit-bags present will limit the space for swimmers to sit and could cause slips/trips hazards. There are some lockers on dry-side and some on the exit from the changing rooms to poolside.
We would also ask that kit bags are NOT given to accompanying parents/family members (again doing so will limit seating space which is at a premium).

-We have tried to accept as many swimmers as possible as we realise that there has been a shortage of L1 opportunities in the qualifying window this year but this means that the pool area will be crowded. If you are not swimming/do not have a child swimming in a session please leave the pool area and return for the session your swimmer is in.
The reserve list is attached and the accepted and rejected entries on our website have been updated to show reinserted swimmers notified last week.
Thank you in advance for your assistance and good luck to all swimmers this weekend.

Blog 2829: Away meet
After the success of Taunton Dean last year the club are once again looking to go on an away gala towards the end of season. These are a great learning curve for swimmers and an opportunity to swim in different pools and against different opponents to avoid getting stale in competition. Last year saw a nearly 90% PB total and the club with only 6 swimmers finishing 2nd in top club and winning top boy. It is amazing what a different environment can do for swimmers.
This season we are looking at doing the High Wycombe level 3 meet in July. The added bonus of this is that not only is it a level 3 meet so the vast majority of the club could enter but it is Long Course, giving vital experience for those that haven't competed Long Course before and additional race practice for those that have.
For this gala to go ahead we need swimmers to sign the form on the notice board ASAP to show intent to compete. Following that we'll need accommodation, mini bus hire, drivers and team managers to help make this event as well run as last year. No parents other than staff are allowed to attend away galas and where possible we will stream live races so parents can watch.
Please let us know by Wednesday 16th March so we can put a price together and get entries in early as it is first come first served.
