Blog 1794: County 50m Championships

Last weekend saw a 60 strong team from Long Eaton compete at Ponds Forge at the County 50m Championships. Which saw a few swimmers competing in their first ever gala and most competing Long Course for the first time. This was a chance for the novice swimmers to gain vital experience and the more experienced swimmers to get early season Long Course racing in. I was extremley impressed with the skill level shown by Long Eaton swimmers and the professionalism shown. The way the swimmers handled themselves all day, eating right, keeping hydrated, supporting each other, generally keeping the area tidy, responding to coach feedback and respecting the team managers - you truely acted like champions on the day, keep it up.

Whilst the youth and senior swimmers focused on the process and not the outcome due to the phase of training they are in there was still alot of personal bests and times which were ahead of the sametime last year. The juniors and age groupers stepped up with great skills and nearly a 100% pb return on all their swims. All in All a tremendous day for Long Eaton S.C.

A big thank you to all that volunteered to make sure the gala went ahead and remember we are always looking for more volunteers to help, with the club paying for any training needed.
