Blog 3217: Sheffield Prem Meet / British Championships

This was a very hard meet to get into as many of the top swimmers in all age groups were there. This was the last weekend to get British Championship Qualifying times (click on this link for all information about British Championships https://www.britishswimming.org/events-and-tickets/british-swimming-championships-2017/ ). As you will see the times required to get into these championships are very high.

We had 3 swimmers compete over the weekend and it was well worth the trip. All 3 swimmers achieved personal best times, moving up the rankings and heading towards their goals. Lana Dilks despite being injured improved her 50 back Long Course just missing out on her regional time. James Webster improved his 50 breast Long Course time to move up to 10th fastest Long Eaton swimmer in the event ever. The highlight of the weekend was Hannah Cox qualifying for British Championships. Going into the gala she was just .08 of a second off the required time of 33.42. In the heat swim she pb'd but missed the time going 33.46. However having changed a couple of points of technique between the heat and final Hannah went 33.16 smashing her PB and achieving the qualifying time for British Championships.

Hannah now joins Adam Freundlich at this years British Championships. This is the first year we have been represented at this event, so to have not just one but two swimmers going is a massive achievement for the club and shows how standards in the club are rising. Hannah Swims on Tuesday 18th of April and Adam on Wednesday 19th. The draft programme is out and both are ranked highly and have a chance at making finals. If you go through the programme you will see how fast this meet is going to be with all of our Rio stars in action. There is a live feed available but it would be great if the swimmers, your team mates, had some support in the audience. Tickets are available through the above link.
