Another long weekend at Sheffield saw some great progress made by the swimmers. These galas early in the cycle and after a 2 week break are not going to be fast, so for swimmers to improve long course PB's from December and November it was not only amazing but a complete surprise. The learning that goes on at events like this is important to the swimmers development and should not be over looked especially if the scoreboard doesnt show us what we would like to see. Its all about putting in place skills and tactics and pushing those skills and tactics so when we hit our focus meets we can just race and race fast. To that extent the boys on the 50 free agreed to do a 200fly in training for every breath they took on the 50. Initially doing a 50 no breathing will slow you down but once you have developed the skill and ability to do it, you will go quicker, it costs .3 of a second for every breath you take on a 50 approximately. Only Rhys managed to do the 50 no breathing so I'll be watching a lot of fly this week.
A massive well done to all the swimmers who swam in both galas this weekend I have heard only positive feedback and big thank you to all the volunteers for making these galas happen.
