Blog 924: Gala Round up

This weekend saw the conclusion of the Midland Age Group Championships, where 6 swimmers from Long Eaton competed. Add that to the 6 that took part at Midland Youth Championships and that is 12 that have competed this year compared to 2 last year. All the swimmers came away with personal bests and alot of pride. Along with this we had 2 teams compete in the Jamie Rigby Gala over the weekend and although I wasnt there when I walked onto poolside at Coventry on Sunday morning I was congratulated by other coaches on a great performance by Long Eaton swimmers at this event. Although both ourselves and City of Derby had weakened teams we managed to get our first ever victory over City Of Derby in the clubs history. With the B team finishing a credible 5th place we are showing signs of getting strength in depth, which will only make the club stronger on a sour note some swimmers did not attend this gala after informing myself of their availability, if you cannot attend please contact either myself or Alex in future so we can make the appropriate adjustments, to not turn up without notice really lets the team down. All in All though the last 2 weekends have shown how much the club has progressed in the pool over the short period of time since the new coaching team was put in place. Over the next 3 weekends we have swimmers competing at British Masters Championships, Round 2 of the Diddy League and open meets at City Of derby and Braunston. Here is hoping we continue the great success in the pool of the last 2 weekends at these gala's.
