Blog 926: Child Welfare Issues

Reminder for parents:
Please remember that if your child is under 9 years of age you should stay within the premises whilst your child is swimming. If this is not possible, another parent should be nominated as having responsibility for the child and the coach/teacher informed who this is. We continue to encourage parents/carers of older swimmers to stay as well where possible.

Facebook / social networking:
The ASA have issued guidance which states that club officials e.g. coaches/teachers/committee members etc should not allow swimmers under the age of 18 to be ‘friends’ on their site. Therefore if such a request is made, it will have to be denied. Please find the link to the guidance: http://www.swimming.org/assets/uploads/library/Good_Practice_Guidelines_on_the_use_of_Social_Networking_Sites_by_ASA_Clubs_and_Club_Members.pdf
