Blog 1230: Youth and Seniors Midland review

This weekend saw Youth and Senior swimmers compete at the Regional Championships, these are the 3rd tier of swimming behind international and National and so there was a very high level of competition including Olympic Qualifiers and hopefuls. Long Eaton's improvement can be shown in comparison with last years Championship.
Qualifiers who entered 2011, 2; 2012, 6. Callum Henley, Hannah Cox, Kate Williamson, Ryan Cendrowski, Jo Parker and Chloe Scattergood
Finalists 2011 1;    2012,      4.     Chloe Scattergood, Jo Parker, Kate Williamson, Hannah Cox
Medals 2011   0;    2012,       1      Silver, Hannah Cox
The Silver medal was won by Hannah Cox in the 50 Breaststroke and she was only a finger tip away from a Gold. We also entered relays teams, showing great strength in depth as our DX swimmers swim for DX at this meet, with Hannah Jones, Mischa Menzies, Kevin Wallbank, Danny Anderson, Jessica Cross and Tyler-Ann Black, all reaching individual finals and winning medals.

This continued improvement and success needs to be built on, so next year we need to aim for more Qualifiers and more Finalists and medals. It was nice to see Chloe Tipping turn up to support her team- mates and friends, and get a taste of what she hopes to qualify for next year. I would encourage this in more of you, as, remember, we are a team and even by being poolside at a meet of this quality you will learn a lot from it that will help you develop.
