Blog 3265: Arena League A Team Bus to Droitwich Spa Sat 9th December

There will be a bus for the last round of the Arena League for the A team who are travelling to Droitwich Spa.


The bus will leave West Park at 3.30pm so please ensure you are there in plenty of time. There will be small charge of £5.00 per person travelling on the bus.


If you are making your own way to the gala the address of the venue is Droitwch Spa Leisure Centre, Briar Mill, Droitwich Spa, Worcester, WR9 0RZ. Please ensure you advise the team manager in advance that you will not be on the bus.

Blog 3256: Arena cross offs

The dates for this years arena league have been out for over a year now, the initial squad was released in July. The "tick sheets" should just be a confirmation now of you attending or letting us know if you are making your own way there, not for you to withdraw from the team. As a club this is our National competition and one we ask everyone to keep dates free for, which is why we release them so early. Any withdrawals should of been made in July or August when the squad was announced, so that teams could be picked from available swimmers, if you are withdrawing for a "previous engagement" you must of know about this in July or August so should of told me then. To withdraw at this point weakens the team regardless of whether you are doing one swim or seven and therefore you are letting the club and your team mates down.

Blog 3253: Derbyshire Junior Grand Prix Round 3 Information

Please note the following details for the final round of the Derbyshire Junior Grand prix this Saturday 18th November.


The venue is Sharley Park Leisure Centre at Market Street, Clay Cross S45 9LX.
Please note car parking is limited.


Warm Up is 5.30pm for a 6.15pm start.


As this is the last round the awards for the grand prix series will be presented at the end of this round. There will be awards for the top 3 scoring girls and boys (accumulation of FINA points over all rounds) in each age group and a top club award based on scoring from top 10 finish placings in each event.

Blog 3252: Named Hats

We will be doing another hat order, in which we can include named hats if anyone wishes. These will be the orange silicon hats with black logo.
The cost will be around £8/10 per hat (paid on delivery) and in order to get delivery by Christmas we need to submit the order in the next 14 days.

Blog 3251: Peterborough

12 swimmers from Long Eaton made their way to Peterborough to compete at the novice gala. This was an ideal opportunity for swimmers to gain valuable racing experience and those that went took it with aplomb. Some great times and medals were achieved by swimmers but more importantly skill development and process education were started.  This gala is one to look out for on next years programme and hopefully we can 30 swimmers there instead of 12.

Following the results of recent galas and times from the previous 2 rounds I have made a couple of changes that allows us to strengthen our B team without weakening our A team. Performance have been tremendous this year and with a good final round the A team could sneak into the top 10 and the B team finish in their highest ever position.

Blog 3246: Open meet closing date reminders

Just a reminder of the following closing dates for forthcoming Open Meets:

It is very important that you make sure that your entries are in the box at West Park by the closing dates - these dates will be before the actual closing date of the meet however I need time to process the entries. I will empty the box the day after each closing date so any entries received after the relevant dates will not be processed.

Blog 3425: Finis Kit

On Tuesday 21st November we have double Commonwealth Gold medalist Ross Davenport coming to West Park to go through the benefits of the kit that the coaches have selected for the swimmers. A coaches "wish list" will be sent out via email today. Ross will be around at 7pm till 8pm so please take this opportunity to see him and learn from his vast knowledge. It could sort out a few Christmas presents as well!

Last weekend saw swimmers from both Long Eaton's home programme and Long Eaton's DX swimmers compete at the Midlands Winter Meet. All the swimmers shown performed well at the meet especially as this meet was Long Course this season and the swimmers were unrested. Blog 3423: Mobility Session

From Wednesday night we will be starting a mobility session between 7 and 8 pm at West Park. This is an open club session for any member that wants to work on specific areas of soreness or improve their general range of motion. It would be good if you could bring a foam roller, thera or resistance band and a hard ball or tennis ball with you to this session.

Blog 3422: Leicester League dates

The Leicester league dates are as follows

These dates clash with our County Championships and Nuneaton and Bedworth Lvl 3 meet (get entries in for this as it fills up quick!) which will take priority over the league dates. Swimmers will be selected from those not competing at these galas wherever possible however it may be the case that younger swimmers not competing in the evening session are asked to represent their club at the team gala in the evening.

Summer Kennedy has been selected for the phase 2 stage of the England Talent programme.

Harmony Torrington and Bradley Evans are on Phase 1 Stage of the same programme and Chloe Bates has just been on ACE camp.

Blog 3419: East Midland Championship 2018

The following link has the qualifying times for this seasons East Midlands Championships on it. This season the Championship is split over 3 weekends instead of 2 and they are as follows.

April 14th/15th Youth (14+) Championships excluding 50's, 800fr, 1500fr and 4 x 200 Relay. At Ponds Forge

Monday 7th May Youth 50's, 800fr 1500fr and Relay Teams.  At Ponds Forge.

There may be changes to the schedule as the EMASA website says slightly different to the Midland Championship website in terms of distance and relay events.

Blog 3418: Trent College Update

We have been advised that the maintenance work at Trent College has been completed on schedule, so all training will be back to normal from tomorrow (Monday 6th November).

Blog 3416: Bath Open Meet

Statement on Behalf of the Team Bath AS management committee and the meet manager

Although we are delighted that our open meet has received such huge support, the overwhelming number of entries has presented us with a rare and difficult problem to solve. On the one hand, as we rely heavily on open meets in order to sustain our swimming program, sticking to the conditions and not making refunds works well for us commercially. On the other hand we also recognise that many wouldn't have entered our meet if they could have predicted the final outcome of being left with significantly fewer swims.

Therefore as a gesture of goodwill and in recognition of the support and loyalty shown by many of the clubs that have been affected we are proposing the following amendment. Any swimmer that has 1 swim or less on Saturday or Sunday will be able to withdraw before Friday 10^th Novemberand claim a full refund for that day. We are running a list for swimmers who want to be considered to back fill the vacant spaces which will be filled fastest first in the corresponding event. 

Notifications of withdrawals or to go on the waiting list must be in writing and  through your club meet manager for each of the attending clubs. The only exception to this is where individuals originally entered on their own.

All swimmers will be expected to sign in at the beginning of each session so that we can offer swims to those that are in attendance and that have been scratched. 

This presents significant logistical issues for the club so we make this gesture on the basis that Team Bath AS decisions on reimbursement will be final.
