These changes are due to the DX meet taking place.

**Junior 50m Finals**
**Open 100m Finals**

This will be the preferred end of cycle meet for these squads.

Blog 3527: Chesterfield Winter Champs

As you may of gathered through the email you have just received I am going through gala entries etc. The above meet is the focus meet of the first cycle for County, Midland and National swimmers and whilst a small percentage of you do not have the required qualifying times the vast majority do. From the 86 swimmers across the 3 squads we have had 28 entries. 17 from National Squad, 10 from Midlands and only 1 from County. I repeat this is your focus meet for cycle one, unless you either do not qualify for it and therefore it will be the Bassettlaw meet or you qualify for Winter Nationals instead. If you have not entered this meet through the club already I suggest you enter directly as soon as possible.

It has been brought to my attention that County squad were not on the original blog and that the gala programme on the blog is out of date. Can county squad please enter this gala as your focus meet of the cycle.

Blog 3526: Derbyshire County Long Course Champs

Entries are now open for this year's County Long Course Championships.

Date: Sunday 9th December

Closing date: Monday 22nd October (entries into the box at West Park by 8.00pm)

Click here for the entry pack.

We have been notified that there are multiple new conditions for this competition, so please read the entry pack carefully.  Also note there is a later than usual warm up and start time for the first session - this has been done following concerns about the Arena League galas the night before.

Blog 3524: Junior Grand Prix

A great first round of the junior Grand Prix tonight, with LESC swimmers showing good skills and an ability to learn and develop from race to race. Lots of learning done by the swimmers and some very tough swims a long the way.

A reminder that this competition is not one where swimmers should be wearing tech suits under our new policy. It’s far to early in the cycle and is primarily a learning competition to develop skills, techniques, tactics and give race experiences. Please ensure that no race suits are worn in future rounds. Any swimmer turning up in a race suit will be ask to change to into a none race suit.

Blog 3513: Golf Score

This morning Midland and National squads started their golf scoring test set. This will be done 4 times over the next 9 to 12 weeks on a Saturday morning with the idea of getting the swimmers to focus on technical improvements, stroke efficiency over the pre season training period. Golf scoring is the swimmers stroke count added to their time i.e if a swimmer swims a 50m free in 34 seconds doing 44 strokes then their golf score is 78. If a swimmer can improve their skills and technique they will be able to swim faster using less strokes and therefore swim faster for longer, saving energy because of better technique. I have attached the results on the link below, at the bottom of the results is 4 examples of what swimmers should be aiming for with their golf scoring given their sex and physical age. these should be used as a guideline only as no actual study on this has taken place.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1p_J6qAz9GSIBMylJ6QTiuDpdNpev0ZAe/view?usp=sharing

1.40pm -1.55pm – Boys aged 13 years & over
1:55pm –2:10pm – Girls aged 9 to 11 years inclusive
2:10pm – 2:25pm – Girls aged 12 years & over
Start 2:30 pm

Hucknall Leisure Centre have a policy of no more than 12 swimmers in a lane during warm up so things will be particularly tight especially during girls warm up.

Please note the start of the afternoon warm up may change and will be confirmed by the announcer following completion of the morning session.

CLOTHING / CHANGING ROOMS
Swimmers need to bring suitable clothing and footwear to wear when walking from the main hall to the poolside. The Leisure Centre will be open to the public on the day for other events/activities and they are quite strict about the attire of swimmers walking around the public areas. We also have to walk past the main door, which may be a little chilly. So pool tops, shorts, flip flops and a spare towel for taking onto poolside for drying after each swim would be appreciated. There will be tubs provided at the start for swimmers to place their belongings into. The dryside changing rooms in the main hall will be open to both us and the general public but the wetside changing rooms will be open to our swimmers only. Can we please ask that only swimmers enter the wetside changing rooms. If an adult needs to enter then please ask someone from Falcon to arrange a DBS approved escort for you.

SPORTS HALL
There will be a limited number of chairs in the main hall so if you want to be sure of not sitting on the floor, then please bring along a camping chair or something similar. Team Managers may find it helpful to bring some sort of clothes airer for hanging towels on between races. No land based group warm up is allowed on poolside. Whilst I appreciate you will want your swimmers to warm up and enter the pool directly, there really isn't enough space for everyone, so any group warm up outside of the pool will need to take place in the main hall.

CAR PARKING
Parking is limited at the Leisure Centre. Ashfield District Council owns the car park, so it is almost certain there will be traffic wardens present at some point during the day. Please do not park outside of or on the white lines, in a disabled bay unless you have the correct badge, in front of any fire exits, on the grass verges, in the bus spaces (unless you have a bus!) or in any other prohibited place.
Free parking is available at the Tram/Station Car Park opposite Tesco, which is a short walk away from the Leisure Centre.
Tea, coffee & soft drinks are available from the Leisure Centre. A selection of cakes & children's sweets will be on sale in the main hall. There is also a raffle & Chocolate Tombola.

PHOTOGRAPHY/SWIMSHOPS
In attendance will be Liakada Photo who will be the official photographer for the day. Sporty Swim & Swimzi will be selling swimwear etc. All will be stationed in the main hall with the swimmers. Note that in the interests of child protection, and in accordance with Leisure Centre policy, no other photography or video will be allowed.

AWARDS
Awards will be made to all six finalists in each age group in each event and the top 6 heat declared winners in the 100IM and can be collected from the medal table There will be Top Boy, Top Girl & Top Visiting Club trophies with 2 runners up in the Top Boy & Top Girls categories. In the event of a tie, then the individual trophies will be awarded according to the largest winning distance in the 100IM. Top Club according to the number of first places awarded and so on.

WITHDRAWALS
If you have any questions please let me know. I will be checking my emails up to around 6pm on Saturday night (at a gala after 6pm) after that could you please text on my mobile 07964729687 Any withdrawals would be appreciated early by text if at all possible but there will be withdrawal forms on the paying desk up to the start of each warm up session.

Finally, huge thanks for supporting us once again and joining us in celebrating our Diamond Jubilee. Wishing all the swimmers the very best of luck. We hope you all have a fantastic day.

Blog 3510: Changes to training this Sunday 9th September - Midland, County & JD1
