Blog 2019-230: Named Hats

We are now compiling an order for named club hats - these are the orange hats with the club logo and the personalisation in black.

We will be using a new supplier so the cost will be less than previously, at around £7.50 per hat. Payment will be on delivery when we know the exact amount.

If you want to place an order please email treasurer.lesc@hotmail.co.uk with the name you would like on the hat and the quantity required. We are aiming to get them delivered before Christmas so the deadline for orders will be 31st October 2019.

Blog 2019-225: Arena League

The first round of Arena League is nearly upon us. This is the National swimming league where around 10000 swimmers compete across the country. To be selected to represent your club in this competition is an honour and why we ask that the dates (published over a year ago and are always the second Saturday of October, November and December) are kept free. Every team member is vital to the success of the club, whether they are there to swim a 50 in a relay or several events, or not their preferred event. The teams are selected firstly off rankings swum short course in the last 12 months and then the fastest combination of individual and relay team events are selected, whilst coaches have input regarding current fitness levels etc. All in all, around 80 hours of work goes into the selection process and production of gala documentation, not to mention the hours given up by officials and team managers. The teams will follow on the next two blogs. Details of venues and transportation will follow the announcement.

Huge thank you to all the bag packers at Tesco in Long Eaton yesterday; a great team effort with lots of swimmers (and parents) staying longer than planned and Alex Phillips staying all day! Fantastic behaviour from all the swimmers who were a credit to the club.

The buckets have been emptied and counted and the total amount raised was £250.00 which is a brilliant effort so well done to everyone involved!

Blog 2019 - 199: Fundraising Bag Pack – Tesco: Saturday 14th September

The committee have arranged a fundraising 'bag pack' event at Tesco Long Eaton on Saturday 14th September. Swimmers will be offering to pack shoppers’ bags at the tills in Tesco in return for a donation to the club.

We will be at Tesco from 10.00am – 3.00pm and would ask that swimmers volunteer for either a 1 or a 2 hour slot during this time to help the club raise essential funds.

Team Managers will be onsite to supervise swimmers while they are volunteering; and we would ask that everyone wears their club kit, as this is a great opportunity for us to advertise the swimming club in the local community.

If you can attend, please email me at lesc.secretary@outlook.com with the timeslot(s) you can do:

10-11am
