pleased to announce that DE Photo has been appointed as the Official
Photographers for our event. This event, by its very nature, is in the public
arena and may result in the recording and publication of your members' images.
If your members do not wish their photo to be taken they should please let one
of the DE Photo team know. All DE Photo staff have been DBS checked and the
company operates very strict privacy and data protection policies and are fully

Blog 2019-255 - Coaches' Report from the Swim England National Masters Championships
Masters Coach Maggi Tuck has sent the following report from last weekend's National Masters Champs:
While more junior members of LESC were having a
“ghoulish” time over the weekend, some of our more mature swimmers were
competing in the Swim England National Masters Championships at Ponds
Forge. This annual short course event attracts hundreds of
competitors between the ages of 18 and 90+ who have achieved the meet
qualifying times.
Chloe Blaydon (18-24), Leanne Atkins (30-35), Liz
Simpson (45-49) and Mary Holland (70-74) attended the event, which took place
over three days and saw some high quality swimming.
Overall the team won 6 Top 10 placings, with Mary
becoming the proud owner of a bronze medal in the women’s 70-74 age group 100m
Free. All four were pleased with their performances, Chloe especially so
having come away with some new personal best times.
LESC swimmers will be representing Derbyshire in
the Masters Inter-Counties competition taking place in November, and there will
be a team attending the Etwall Eagles Open Meet in December.

I am delighted to announce that our new County Squad Coach will be Oliver Tipping.
Oliver has been with the club for over 10 years, swimming his way through all of our squads and more recently completing our Junior Coach programme and Strength and Conditioning training.

Blog 2019 - 246 : gala guidance
A few ground rules and advice for those competing.
Support your team mates at all time we are one team and we should act like it. Wear your club colours with pride and represent the club in the correct manner.
Swimmers are prohibited from having mobile phones on poolside. Most have a camera on them and therefore under ASA regulations are not allowed on poolside or to be used in the changing rooms. If they are being used for music they must remain in a pocket at all times however other forms of music player are preferable. If you get bored, cheer harder!
Always carry spares, hats, goggles, swim suits all can break. Be prepared
You do not need to fuel up like a normal days training. Yes your effort will be greater than in training but for a far shorter length of time. Avoid big portions (giant tubs of pasta will just sit in your belly and slow you down) fuel up the day before and at the end of the day. Just top up your energy with fruits and fast release carbs and proteins. Sweets should be less than a fist full for an entire days competition and evenly portioned out after each race if you must have sweets. If you are racing four times in a day then a maximum of 1/4 of your own fist size immediately after each race. Evening competition such as league meets and grand prix’s do not require food, this should of been taken care of during the day and a snack afterwards is enough, just stay hydrated.
Pre pool is a must especially at league meets where warm up pool time is limited. There is always space and everyone has been provided the knowledge to complete this vital activity.
Respect! Respect your coach, your team managers and your team mates. You are representing the club so behaviour must reflect this. If your coach or team manager tells you to do something you do it, no questions asks. They are there for your benefit so will only be asking you to do something to benefit you and the team. Swimmers who constantly ignore requests or do not act in an appropriate manner or do not support each other will be deselected from competition.
#oneteam Together Everyone Achieves More.

Blog 2019-237: Squad Fees
A gentle reminder that the new squad fees were effective from September's payment.
Whilst you may not think that your £2 or £3 a month is important, if all our members thought that then the club would be several thousand pounds short of income by the end of the year. This has a direct impact on our ability to continue to provide the level of training opportunities currently enjoyed.
Please ensure that your standing order is updated for October's payment, any shortfall from September can be paid to the same bank account details or by cheque into the post box at West Park. Please ensure that you quote your membership reference number.
