Blog 2019-276: LESC Open Meet 2020 – we need your help with sponsorship!

As you’re aware, the Club is holding its Open Meet on Sunday 19th January 2020 at Queens Leisure Centre in Derby.

Members can help personally and by putting us in touch with contacts who you feel may be able to support us. We are looking to attract a main sponsor for the event, session sponsors, individual race sponsors, donations, vouchers and raffle prizes so we can stage another successful Open Meet and all of which enable us to:

  • Supplement costly pool time
  • Provide specialist education/coaching sessions out of the pool
  • Support the annual cost of competing in the National Arena League team competition, including transport of swimmers to and from venues around the Midlands
  • Support other ongoing costs including team building events and training camps

Many of you sponsored individual races last year – we’d love to see this kind of support again at a cost of £25 (plus logo if a business) in the programme. To secure a race/s – please do so by Sunday 22nd December.

A main sponsor and session sponsors will be recognised in the Open Meet Programme, announcements during the Open Meet, the Club’s website as well as mentions on social media.

Your support will be truly invaluable to the Club.

Please contact Helen Tunnicliffe who will be co-ordinating all enquiries via lesc.secretary@outlook.com or M: 07813 855215 or Sue Kelly via kskelly14@yahoo.co.uk, T: 01332 675039 or M: 07502 047545.

Blog 2019-276: JD 2, tonight

There has been a bad crash on the M1 and Melissa is stuck in traffic. We are trying to get someone down to open up and will do our best to put the session on. Please bear with us.

Blog 2019-275: Annual General Meeting Agenda (date change) – Saturday 14th December 2019

Due to key Committee Members not being able to attend the AGM this Saturday (of which their attendance is essential in line with the Constitution) the AGM is now being re-scheduled.

The AGM will take place on Saturday 14th December at 8.00am at West Park Leisure Centre in the viewing area.

Blog 2019-274: Presentation Night

I would just like to thank all involved in the successful presentation evening we all enjoyed last night. The venue and the food were excellent. Many thanks to Wayne Harrand & Debbie Blaydon who worked with the venue beforehand to give us such a great evening, and of course Catherine Fowler for organising the trophies and the smooth, efficient, handover to the winners.

Congratulations to our new Club Captains,  Phoebe Golton, Bradley Evans, Phoebe Warwick and Oliver Addington.

I will pass on your thanks to Jacob Whittle for attending and for his encouraging words to the younger swimmers.

Let's look forward now to our next big event, our Open meet on Jan 19th, which I know will be just as successful

Blog 2019-270: Parking reminder for Stafford meet / change to p.m. start times / seating plan

A few bits of last-minute info for this weekend's Stafford Meet:

  • Please remember the Entrust car park is NOT available either day, as there are events on.  Parking here could jeopardise its use for future swim meets.  The nearest car park is Waterfront car park.
  • Afternoon warm-ups on both days have been extended, so p.m. sessions ( 2 & 4) will now start at 2.45pm.  (The meet is still scheduled to finish at 5.30pm each day)
  • A seating plan has been posted on Stafford's website (click here to view) - we have space down the side of the pool so it is unlikely there will be room for chairs.  We will have 33 swimmers, plus coaches and Team Managers at the meet.  Please bear this in mind when deciding what to bring onto poolside - if you can put large bags into lockers and just bring smaller bags with essentials onto poolside, that will help.

Blog 2019-269: Annual General Meeting Agenda – Saturday 30th November 2019

As you’re aware, the Club's AGM is taking place on Saturday 30th November at 8.00am at West Park Leisure Centre in the viewing area.

Please find attached the agenda. This is an important date in the diary where a review of the performance of the club over the past year will be given, a review and vote on the club constitution will be undertaken and elections for the committee for the forthcoming year conducted.

Please make every effort to attend, this is your club, have your say. We look forward to seeing you there.
